We want you to get to know our Team! Below, you will see some answers from our Founder and Associate Broker, Clyde Davis.
How long have you worked in Real Estate/How did you get started?
I have been in real estate for nearly 45 years. A lady in my church asked me to go to work with her selling real estate. She was doing quite well so I thought that would be a good idea. After about a year I wanted to start Liberty Hill Properties and the rest is history. After years of long days, long weeks, lots of blood, sweat, and tears......we were overnight successes.
What is one of your most memorable experiences as a realtor?
There are hundreds of memorable stories, but I guess one of the most rewarding was when a young couple came in wanting to sell their home. They were barely speaking, not sure they even liked each other and they were going to get a divorce and that was that! I told them I would not sell their house until they visited my Pastor for counseling. Now some, 25 years later, their children are grown, their home is paid for, and they are more in love than ever before!
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
My all-time favorite thing is to be with my wife, Janette of 56 years, my children, their spouses, my grands, and their wives. We love to go to all of their activities. Over the years we have driven a zillion miles to catch a football, basketball, a softball game or a track meet, recital, whatever they are doing we want to be there. Nothing like being in Imperial, TX for a Tuesday night basketball playoff game! Nothing around for maybe a 4-hour drive.
Tell us a story about your first sale or a unique situation in real estate.
There have been many funny stories over the years. The first day in the real estate business a guy called the office wanting to buy a lot in an old subdivision. I found out that it belonged to a man named Walter Carrington. So I went to his office and we started talking and he told me he also owned the ranch that is now developed and called Carrington Ranch. He told me he would take one million dollars. So I went to another guy I knew was looking for a property to buy. Told him about Carrington's ranch and we wrote a contract! First day....million dollar sale! This real estate business is pretty good! Of course, I was swimming with some sharks and they found a way to ruin the deal. We did however get to sell the ranch when Walter developed it!
