Georgetown Real Estate

With its population of 57,114, Georgetown is one of the most dynamically growing cities in Central Texas. This beautiful and historic community has kept its small town charm while providing all the conveniences of the big city. It offers an award-winning historic downtown, an agreeable climate and a beautiful natural environment that presents a wealth of recreational opportunities.

Here, you can enjoy the vibrant nightlife and cultural activities or the laid-back relaxation of country living. The city boasts a top-ranking school system as well as the oldest university in the state. It’s all here. No wonder Georgetown is considered to be one of the best “small” towns in America!

Situated right in the heart of the state of Texas on Interstate 35 and the San Gabriel River, the Georgetown landscape is graced with hills and canyons of impressive beauty, abundant flowing streams, rivers and natural wildlife – all within the gorgeous Hill Country just 26 miles north of the city of Austin. As the center of Williamson County, Georgetown is extremely business-oriented with such corporate giants as Dell Computer, Samsung, IBM and Tivoli who have made their home here in recent years. New businesses, entrepreneurial opportunities and rapid growth of high-tech companies abound in this bustling region. Residents have a wide selection of employment possibilities to choose from with the area’s biggest employers being the Georgetown Independent School District, Georgetown Healthcare System, Southwestern University, City of Georgetown and Williamson County, to list a few.

Everything you could want for sports and outdoor recreation can be found in and around the city of Georgetown. With nationally recognized parks and trails, residents enjoy an exceptional quality of life.

San Gabriel Park, one of the most beautiful parks in the state with its 200-year-old oak trees, features a variety of fun activities including concerts, festivals, canoeing, swimming, fishing and the extraordinary Sunken Gardens. Meanwhile, the Cedar Breaks and Jim Hogg parks, located on the south and north sides of Lake Georgetown, respectively, provide boat ramps, fishing and camping facilities as well as a 16-mile hiking trail. Thanks to the San Gabriel River and Lake Georgetown being so close at hand, water sports are easily enjoyed in the Georgetown area. On the San Gabriel River, the Blue Hole is a scenic lagoon and favorite swimming spot for area residents while the 1,200-acre Lake Georgetown provides swimming, fishing, skiing and boating fun, as well as camping areas, a wildlife preserve and 16 miles of hiking trails. All golfing enthusiasts will come to love what Georgetown has to offer. From the “Best Private Course in Central Texas,” Cimarron Hills Country Club, to the “Beginner Friendly Course” at Terra Vista Golf Club, golfers of every skill level will find somewhere to play that will challenge their game.

Georgetown has developed into a center for performing and cultural events, including fine arts exhibitions, live theater and athletic competitions. In 1997, the city received the “Great American Main Street Award” for its downtown historic district, which features many National Historic Register homes and buildings as well as Victorian storefronts lining the streets. Georgetown is also home to Southwestern University, one of the most esteemed liberal arts colleges in the Southwest and the oldest chartered university in Texas. Located on approximately 700 acres of land, the college is architecturally magnificent with Gothic style buildings that date back to the 1800’s. Throughout the year, Georgetown plays host to a multitude of special events and festivals. Such events and festivals include Georgetown’s Fourth of July Festival, which draws over 40,000 visitors each year, and the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival in the spring, which offers fine wine and food, children’s activities and live music.

With homes available in every price range, the real estate industry in Georgetown and Williamson County is booming. Many homes have large pieces of land for raising horses and cattle while others are located along the beautiful riverfront.
