With Mother's Day fast approaching, you may still be stuck on just what to do to express your gratitude and love for all that she has done for you and your family. Sometimes, the standard gift of flowers doesn't seem quite like it touches on the important role she has played in your life. For those who really want to show their mother how much they appreciate them, here are a few ideas to get you started.

  1. Scavenger Hunt
Let's be honest, regardless of how old you may get, everyone loves a scavenger hunt. You can take this idea and turn it on its head to delight and surprise your mother. Whether you do it on your own or enlist your siblings to help, write down a certain number of notes listing things you love or appreciate about your mother. Then hide them throughout the house in places easy to miss as well as in places that are right in her face. This is the Mother's Day gift that keeps on giving as she may not find all of the notes in one sitting. A week or a year later, she may stumble upon a note and have it make her day. You can also procure a small album book for her to store the notes.
  2. Fancy Dinner
Taking your mother out to eat is one thing, but considering all of the meals she probably cooked for you and your family, cooking for her yourself can be quite the gesture. Especially if you go all out and make it a five-star experience. Decorate the table, cook to the best of your ability, choose a fine wine, and most importantly, dress up. Make sure your mother feels like she's a Queen dining at the finest restaurant in the city.
  3. Have An Adventure
Take your car out with your mom as your co-pilot and just hit the road. Drive out of town, or out of the city, and see where the road takes you for a few hours. You can use the time to reconnect and bond or just have a blast singing tunes on the radio. Stop off at odd sideshow attractions and perhaps create a few new memories during the drive.
  4. Book Her Spa Time
Nothing quite says, "I love you," like an appointment at the spa. After all of the hard work your mother has done to bring you up, she deserves quite a few massages. Give her the opportunity to indulge in just herself and find comfort in the relaxing art of massage therapy.
  5. Make A New Hobby
Your mom was likely too busy to ever pursue a hobby that she once considered interesting. Find out what it is and make it happen for her. Schedule a workshop for her to attend or buy the materials yourself and do the hobby with her. You may find that you've developed a new hobby, too.
